Deafscope is a deaf-led company transforming media into accessible formats for deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences. We specialize in on-screen, in-vision British Sign Language (BSL) translation for written and spoken English, ensuring full accessibility. Our services include adding subtitles and providing voiceovers, making media content available to a broader audience.
We offer professional interpreting services, with a team that includes a Registered Sign Language Interpreter, trainee interpreters, and communication support workers who are all Children of Deaf Adults (CODA). Our experienced relay interpreter, with over 10 years in the field, adds further expertise to our offering.
In addition to interpreting and translation, Deafscope is proud to promote Visual Vernacular (VV), a unique and emerging theatrical art form combining mime, facial expressions, and body language. Led by Ish, who has toured nationwide, VV performances appeal to both deaf and hearing audiences.
